He tightly shut his eyes and waited for whatever was going to happen to happen. He had done everything he could and was shaking now scared that Naruto was going to kill him but he would rather Naruto take his life then the Elders or some cruel human. He wouldn’t fight Naruto back no matter what he did….he just couldn’t and now he just waited…replaying the scene in his head over and over again wishing he could change everything.
He could feel Naruto’s darkness slowly going down but it was still there however he never did open his eyes. What a coward he was….pitiful wasn’t even the word as he heard Naruto step forward and he curled into a ball and gritted his teeth ready for the strike. What happened next shocked him as he gasped as he was pulled into Naruto’s chest and embraced tightly.
Was Naruto going to snap his neck? That is what he thought as that hand was placed on top of his head but that thought quickly changed as those words were spoken and that sigh was made. “I’m sorry, Sasuke.. I don’t want to hurt you, or upset you, yaknow? I’m just.. being a bit weird lately. This whole ANBU stuff, isn’t really for me. But I can’t back out now ‘ttebayo.. ““It’s no excuse, so I’m really sorry.. but yaknow, ya kinda look cute with an ears and tail.”
He froze and laid his head against Naruto’s chest and took in a deep shaky breath as he heard that nervous laugh come from him. No sounds or words came from him as Naruto held him so close, he shivered into him as he tightly embraced him back and let out a sob as he gripped a hold of Naruto’s shirt. “I’m so sorry…I’m sorry you got dragged into this…I —-I wish I could just do this mission by myself…you deserve so much better then this….I—I’m sorry for everything…"
A small blush came across his face. "B—Baka Dobe…I’m n—not cute.."
「 ℕ」— To hold such a trembling Uchiha within his arms was certainly something Naruto thought would never have happened, especially not when they should have been rushing on to start their mission. But it could wait. This was far more important. A few strokes to the raven’s hair and Naruto let out a light sigh, nuzzling his head against his friend’s, trying to comfort him as best he could. "Don’t be sorry ‘ttebayo. I chose this. It was my decision, you didn’t drag me into anything.” He soothed, pulling back lightly and cupping the Uchiha’s face within his hands, ensuring that their eyes met.
“I chose this.” He repeated, a small smile playing on his lips. “So relax, Sasuke.” More calming words, a stroke of his cheek and a wider smile once he’d finished. All he wanted was his friend’s happiness, no matter what the blond had to do to obtain it. He’d do anything for a friend, absolutely anything. Didn’t matter if it left him in a life or death situation, or if it was near impossible. He’d do it regardless.
“Neh, kinda cute.” He teased with a poke to the blushing cheek, although seeing Sasuke so red caused his own cheeks to flare up. Perhaps not as noticeable against tanned skin, but present nonetheless.
